I feel weird even making this post, but there's a definite lack of representation of black girls in thinspo. In fact, I couldn't really even find any black girl thinspiration to begin with. And it says a lot about the world when you type "skinny black girls" into google and get back porn as the top 5 results. Bleh. Internet, you should be ashamed of yourself! There are plenty of thin black girls out there, and I love their pix because I'm a curly-haired girl myself and so I relate a lot more to images where the girl has curly hair. I know that being race is definitely more different than hair type but it seems like thinspo pix are always of this one stereotypical girl who I'm never going to be.
The ideal thinspiration girl:
- straight blonde hair
- pale like death or photoshop
- sweet and innocent
- clothing reveals one key body part while being full-coverage everywhere else and quite baggy
Even if I get down to 100 lb perfection, I'm not going to dress like that or look like that. So while I enjoy those pictures of skinny girls for art's sake, it doesn't really motivate me.
